What was the last thing you did for play or fun?
This is actually hard to answer because I’ve been lucky enough to do a lot recently that has had no purpose other than joy… I’ve sung carols with friends and eaten way too much take away… I’ve been on nights out for friends birthdays… I’ve even attended a world premiere and walked a red carpet! (Which was AMAZING!)… but if I have to choose one thing, it would actually be me deciding on a whim to go see a play, on my own, just because I could.

I was in London, I had just had an audition and now I had the whole evening ahead of me. I wandered around Christmas markets, I walked with no end point in mind, I saw theatres lit up in lights shouting about so many plays/musicals that I really wanted to see (and have made note of for future outings!).

I had seen an advert on social media for The Duchess (of Malfi) a few days before and I decided to grab myself a ticket and that I was going to just take myself to a play, because, why not!

I cannot praise the venue and staff highly enough, everyone was so lovely and I feel lucky to have been able to see the play before it closed.

A front row seat meant I was close to the action and could see it all! Which was a great experience (even if I was concerned I was going to get splashed with “blood” at points!). The staging was really impactful and the whole cast was incredible. It wasn’t a play I was familiar with and this made it all the more enjoyable for me because I was surprised and drawn in even more through the storytelling!

I even met Jodie Whittaker afterwards and was able to tell her how much I’d loved the play and thank her!

I can’t wait to get the opportunity to see many more plays and musicals in the near future!
