Start Here….. Please!

Well hello there! How are you? Thanks for coming. We greatly appreciate your company.

Mama Needs a Drink (or a cuppa, or a snack, or a nap, or a day off!) started when two friends decided to finally get their acts together and start a blog, after about 4 years of talking about it – with one previously having a blog for her degree and constantly moving house; and the other kept having babies and set up her own business.

This isn’t just for mama’s – we just both happen to be female (born & presenting) parents. We are not, in anyway, suggesting that dad’s don’t also need these things. As do grandparents, carers, aunties, uncles, teenagers (but not the drinking part!!), basically anyone. Anyone is in need of these things – just not if there is an alcohol/caffeine addiction, you’re underage (for drinking purposes), or about to drive (for drinking or napping purposes). We simply chose the name because that is what we needed at that particular time. Simple as that really. No real thought went into it, other than to google if it was already a thing (it was not). And hence ‘Mama Needs a Drink’ was born. Slowly, but surely, it came to pass after all the procrastinating and life that came along the way (as well as an idea with another name, that went nowhere).

So a little background on the founders (so to speak)… bestmrshendo and katyecornish have been friends for way too many years…. since 1999 when K moved to bestmrshendo’s hometown and joined the same Evangelical Church that she had grown up in. What’s the most scary thing, for bestmrshendo anyway, is that she has actually babysat K, her elder sister and younger brother! They both started families within a couple of years of each other – bestmrshendo’s eldest being flower girl to K the week they learnt to walk! As always, life gets in the way and they both moved away from that town, and each other. But it’s a friendship that withstands the ups, the downs, the silence, the distance, and has persevered.
